ANALYSES OF INTEGRAL AND MOX CRITICAL EXPERIMENTS TO QUALIFY PARAGON2 PREDICTIONS*

This paper presents the qualification of newly developed Westinghouse lattice physics code PARAGON2. PARAGON2 uses high energy resolution in solution transport equation. The objective this is to demonstrate that accurately predicts integral and critical experiments. experiments are used assess predictions fine neutronics parameters such as: resonance integrals radial profiles reactions rates, isotopics, burnup for depleted pellets. considered are: Hellstrand’s, TRX, PIE For experiments, will focus only on VENUS-2 MOX experiment. results obtained clearly show good with scattering model which close measurement. predicted capture reaction temperature coefficients, isotopic match measured values both shape magnitude. reactivity prediction excellent agreement measurement value. Also, standard deviations minus pin-wise fission rates very (i.e. ≤ 2%) individual assemblies whole core.
